stoned epiphany IX

St. Timothy and his wife St. Maura.

"Liberal" Catholic priests and laics are far more threatening to real Atheists than hardcore Catholics.
Why? Because they are willing to soften up their positions regarding sexuality and the idea of a carnal "sin".
The way I see the fall of the Roman Catholic church concers "liberal" Catholics more willing to evolve in order to keep existing as a powerful entity than dogmatic Catholics. Thus, they are more difficult to attack, because some can actually pretend - and very well - to think like you, and still confess legitimacy to the structure of Catholicism.
We need dogmas. This specific revolution is meant to start beyond the walls of the Vatican. I have to agree with dogmatic Catholics when they see their "liberal" fellows with suspicious eyes.
The word "Catholic" comes from the Greek expression katholikos (kat-, kata- "down, along, according to"+ holou "from neuter genitive of holos, whole"). They state with their sole recognition as kathólikos as the ones who see "humanity as a whole, universally".
Catholics are not meant to recognice and accept different views of reality, because humanity seen "as a whole" tends to homogenization, which quickly evolves - caeter paribus - into totalitarism.
